I went to the local parts store to pick some goodies for my 67 F100. Fan belt looked to be in bad shape so I thought I would replace it while I was at it. The counter guy said the 352 required 2 belts, but mine has only one. He suggested the engine might have been replaced. Any ideas?, The truck was my granfathers and has been in my immediate family since new, and I am not aware of any engine replacement.
My 390 on my F100 takes TWO fan belts. I am sure it would work fine with one, but I replace them both just the same. Then again, my 390 came out of a 69 Torino.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Dec-02 AT 12:05 PM (EST)]My '67 came stock with 2 matched belts for the crank/water pump/alternator. The belts used to be sold as a set. The alternator had a 2 groove pulley. Somewhere along the way I changed to a one groove alternator pulley, so I now I run one belt. Does not seem to have made any difference. I also have a separate belt for the power steering.
Hmmm...so a '67 F100 could have had dual belts too. Looks like it's not the counter guy that's full of it. Sorry about that, will update my notes. Thanks guys!

kdouthit, I take it your crank and water pump pulleys have two sheeves and you're only running the inside one?
I have a 352 in my 72. Should I be running a belt from my crank to my water pump, and a seperate belt for my alternator? I have P/S, and I am running 2 belts, but there is a 3rd sheeve on both my water pump pulley and my crank pulley. Is that just an extra, or is it essential?
