I thought about that, but it seems to me that boxing that area in is a better way to go to prevent crushing. In addition to boxing the frame in I would also add reinforcement plates to the areas where the radius arm bracket bolts to the sides of the frame rail, like you did on the front crossmember. My main reason for bolting is for ease of maintenance.

If I understand correctly, it is to box it? Maybe add tubes that are welded to the bracket that the bolt would go in. This way it can't crush anything.

Sounds like you got the idea. Tubes...hmm not a bad idea either!

Oh I forgot to mention earlier I went through and retorqued all the bolts on the frontend, seems to be okay now. I also replaced the wheel bearings and races, she runs down the road smooth as glass!
