Lets talk about rear-ends!

Well, truck has 100k kms on her and decided to check rear-end fluid while I added some friction mod to it (but of chatter on dry pavement), anyways popped the filler cap off and boy was the magnetic nut ever full of sludge! I was pretty surprised how much there was but when I stuck my finger in there, I was even more suprised that the oil was fairly clean, almost new looking. Am I little too concerned for my own good or should I just replace the fluid even though the techs at ford say it's a lifetime fill and unless there is a problem, not to worry about it. Keep in mind this truck never has seen any towing and no deep water submerging.

i changed both ends at 125,000 miles. rear end was clean, but quite a bit of sludge on the magnet just like yours. it is synthetic.--- the front end looked like crap. grey and some water, etc. drained and refilled it also. front end is not synthetic. i am in favor of changing oils to get the crap out. NOTHING last forever, even synthetic oil.
