does any one have the pecs on the weight size (l/h/w) for the 28oz and 50oz flex plate and how to tell what damper i have? engine vibrates bad. the engine is supposedly out of an 83 t-bird. didn't they change balances in this year? could it be that it is an 82 motor in an 83 body? i didn't see the car it came out of to see wether or not is was made in late 82 and sold as an 83. any help appreciated.
thanx

I suggest you try posting this question in the '80s forum; they will be more likely to know the answer.
However, what motor are you talking about? Is it a Windsor? A 385?
Flynn66: A flexplate is the flywheel equivalent for an automatic transmission. The torque converter bolts to it.
It is not a flywheel because it doesn't perform the function of a flywheel, which is to provide inertia to keep the engine spinning and balanced. The torque converter does that instead, for an automatic transmission setup.
Certain flywheels in combination with the dampers on 302's will cause the problem you're describing. Common problem in the 80's It throws the whole thing out of balance.
Hey Dave, You didn't mention that he tried to run him off to another forum, like we can't deal with it. Somebody needs to get a little keen switch and stripe his legs.
