Rear Brake help PLEASE!

Well, I the e-brake light and rabs light both come on intermently. Last Saturday night, the rear brakes locked up! I showed up to the bar and m brakes were smoking (of course a guy in a mercedes had to make a comment) I pulled the wheels and drums this morning and everything looks good!??! Plenty of pad, drums came off easy, springs are good. What could it be?

> the rear brakes locked up!

Most likely weak springs that were not changed with the shoes. You can not "look" at them to see if they are good.

> rabs light both come on intermently

There is a screen at the inlet of the RABS and it can become clogged with junk.

Hows the fluid level in the MC? Do you have any fluid leaking on the shoes?

Brakes

May be time for a brake rebuild, I had Rabbs problems lights I rebuilt front and rear bled the system out and it worked out for me.Pull the senser on the rear differential and clean any metal shavings off of it.

Unhappy

Fluid level is good

I drove it yesterday and the brakes were fine until the end of my road. Then the rears locked up. It was like the e-brake was on. I had it in drive and I had to give it gas to go. Then the brakes let off down the road. I think I'm just going to take it to big o

FWIW: Just remembered something, from experience, if the drums come off easy without some pulling they are not adjusted correctly.

well, big o flushed the system and one of the wheel cylnders was leaking. So, 2 new wheel cylnders and a brake flush we'll see what happens.

So the flush and new wheel cylnders took care of the abs and e-brake light, but the rears locked up again! So now they're blowing out the lines and testing the porportioning valve.

Cool

I wasn't the hose!!!It was the "skid control valve" Whick is the porportioning valve. Now it's fixed.

To test it in the future, remove the electrical connection to the box. Duh!
