camper package?

How do I tell if I have the camper package? My truck is a 99 F250 PSD. It rides horriable going down the highway. I have to brace myself when I see a bump in the road or a pothole. I have never ridden in another superduty that rides like mine. The previous owner told me it had the camper package. But I have no way of knowing other than it rides like crap. Also what is the benefit of having these options?

On a 99 I think if you have a factory rear swaybar and helper springs.

Only a thought. Are the tires at full pressure ? I back off mine a little if I'm not planning on carrying anything heavy. Might have bad shocks . If the 99 is a 4x4, do you have the 5200lb front rating? I've noticed the psd tends to nose dive with the lighter 4800?lb. Maybe the front springs have had it.

The current camper package gives you the rear anti sway bar, and a upgrade on the springs to the next heaviest, if you are not already at max. And usually the extendable mirrors.

It also gives you a piece of paper in the Glove box that says the truck is camper certified for a given weight camper.

You don't say how many miles the truck has on it. A 99 is now 7 going on 8 years old. Shocks, Ball Joints, Tires, Springs are all getting old if they have not been replaced. Check out each of them and make usre they are still up to snuf. As Edkajo said, Tires at full pressure will ride very hard, If you don't have a load on, reduce the pressure to 55 or 60 psi

Well the piece of paper in the glove box is long gone. The truck has 115k miles on it. The tires are at 60psi. And I will have to go check and see if it has the rear sway bar. The front springs are rated at 5200lbs. Looking at my door sticker under type it says TRU/CAM. Does that mean anything?

Well I went and looked. I have the rear sway bar. Also on the front are these rubber things above the u bolts. Almost look like an air bag or a bumpstop somthing. They tie into the frame and the axle. Anybody have a clue as to what those are?

Had something like that on an old plow truck (p/o installed) and they killed the ride . I would take them out if your not plowing but that's only my opinion.

Well I took those things off. They are made by http://www.timbren.com . I really cant tell a difference driving it around. I am going to look at another superduty frontend and see if I can tell a difference.

Timbrens are designed to take the excess weight off the springs by acting as a bumper. You probably wouldn't notice any diference with or without them when you run empty... They are very good under heavy weight. Your springs compress under weight, and the timbrens only allow them to compress the distance between the upper surface of the timbren and the strike area above it..

I have them on my 2 trucks, and they work quite well, and alot less expensive than air bags.
