Maybe this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it in the search.....
I just recently picked up an '04 F-250 crewcab (see gallery for pics) and want to be able to use my 2 Fosgate 10" subs in the truck without any hacking of the interior.
Any of you guys out there have any ideas on how i can accomplish this?
It depends on which seat setup that you have. I have the backseat in my 04 f250 that has the fold flat steel floor underneath the seat. Im not sure, but I think that the seat configuration that DOSENT have the fold flat floor, has more room behind it. The problem that I ran into was the mounting depth of the speaker. Most speakers required too much room depthwise to mount 10's or 12's. Pioneer Premier makes a shallow mount 12 that is slammin! I built a custom box and put 2 of these 12's in it and it fits like a glove and sounds awesom. Check out the pictures in my gallery. I will say that if I had it to do all over again and I was going to use 12's, I would build 2 seperate boxes instead of 1 box for the both of the speakers, also, I forgot to mention that I did have to cut the molded carpet on the back wall ($60.00 to replace), remove the jack and tools tray along with the two vents in the back wall. All of this could be put back in to bring back to original with ease. Also, If I did it all over again, I think that I could build a box that would house 2-8" subwoofers without having to remove anything at all. I was stuck on 12's and didnt realize the sound that can be achieved with a good set of quality 8's until I heard 1-8 in a crew cab Toyota. Live and Learn, I reckon.
Thanks everyone, been too busy for a couple of days to reply. I have the lariat leather seats that have the smaller section on the pass. side that flips up(80-20?). It also has the steel folding load floor. The 10's I have are the rockford rf series (old ones with raised red "RF" in the centre of the cone).
It seems that all of the boxes I've found on the 'net require "trimming" of the carpet trim on the rear wall of the cab. I'd rather just take it completely out than cut it, anyone know if that would be a huge job?
