i have a aerostar that has passenger door lock trouble. the door does not unlock with the key. the power lock and inside handel work Aok. i pulled the key cylinder out today and the linkage from the latch is hanging there but not conected to the keyed cylinder. hopefuly someone can help. be nice to be able to open the door with the key again.
There is a little plastic or spring metal clip that holds the linkage to the lever on the end of the lock cylinder. These little clips don't usually break, but it's not impossible. You need to try to find the apropriate one for your lock and re-install it.
On a long shot, you might look inside the door panel. If someone worked on the lock before, they may have not installed the clip properly, and it just fell off. If so, it should be in the door somewhere. Otherwise, you might find pieces of the plastic clip, and take it somewhere to find a replacement.
i looked in the door stuck my hand in too and got nothing. even took in a magnet. would the clip be sold or do i have to buy a whole new lock for that little clip?
