Door Locks operate by itself

I have a '98 E-150 conversion. After heavy rain or carwash, the door locks will lock all doors. Occasionally the locks will chatter (lock and unlock) several cycles while driving (again after rain or washing). Switches will not operate locks when this occurs. Van has remote system, but I dont have remotes. Locks work fine after 5 or 6 hours when weather dries out. Anyone have any ideas?

I have an '00E350 that has an aftermarket command start and door locks. The doors used to self-lock quite frequently until I had the unit reprogrammed. ( I still don't leave the keys inside - just in case. )

If it's an aftermarket door lock unit; I'd just have the unit removed.

Try to find out where the lock relays are and see if you can do something to stop them from getting wet. My 96 Explorer owners manual shows where it's relays are, maybe your van's manual does too.

And welcome to FTE!
