I have a 302 out of an 80's bronco. I am wanting to put it into a jeep cj-7. I have the motor which is fuel injection, however I do not have the computers to run the fuel injection or the ignition. If I went to a junk yard to get what I needed, can anyone tell me what I would need to get this running? Any help would be greatly appriciated.
I would run a carburater intake high flow dual plane such as performer rpm air gap or a single plane victor or like with a holley 4 barrel TBI, with the mega squirt you can progran your own fuel curve and injector cycle. or just run the program that comes with the TBI if one does. If the vehihicle needs to be smoged you will need an EGR intake and if the vehicle origanilly had EFI you may have to run EFI and smog approved I am not too knollegable about this.
Hmmm... eBay I guess. You'd want to get the MAF-type harness.
It'd be complicated. You need the computer, injector harness, sensor harness, maybe tranny harness if you've got an electronic tranny. Then you need all the sensors-MAF,pressure,O2,water temp, air charge temp,EGR valve position, throttle position, knock sensor,Idle Air Control position sensor, maybe the crankshaft position pickup- and then actuators- Idle Air Control valve and then some vac solenoids.
Be expensive. Might be easier to loot all this stuff from a junked vehicle. Don't build a bank fired speed density system, build a sequential fire MAF.
A lot depends on how the Jeep's gonna be used, too. If it's going mainly off-road, I'd personally go with the EFI ( if I had mega-money and time like Dannym said). You avoid fuel-delivery problems on steeps with EFI. If it's mainly street, I'd go carb, for the simplicity and cost. JMO
