Okay here is the problem bought a 77 F150 4x4 well it has duel tanks one behind the seat and one under the bed at the back. Now the problem is i cannot find the switch for the tanks i've looked everywhere under the cab and under the seat and dash if someone can point me in the right direction i would be grateful.
Thomasm67, this is the same as my truck. Shotr bed with 2 tanks, one behing the seat. If you're asking about the electrical switch that controls the solenoid switch it's on your heater control panel. If you're asking about the solenoid switch itself, it is mounted to the underside of the cab, right below your left butt cheek when your driving. There is a pic in my gallery.
Not to stir up a hornets nest here but the main tank in my truck is behind the seat and the aux is above the spare tire. I know what my owners manual says and Mil1ion is correct but my truck has been backwards since I bought is in 1980.
The In Cab tank on my 1972 was the main, saddle tank was the aux. Different Body I knwo.
That was switched when Ford put the main tank above the spare tire carrier in the back betwwen frame rails. So the saddle tank is aux on these.
Sometime in 1980 Ford switched the tanks Front saddle tank is main, Rear is Aux on my 1981 according to the manual. The selector on the inside is labled Front and Rear, not Aux and Main, as well. Different body I know.
What I would do is if your fuel selector is in the Aux position, and gas is being emptied from the front, then it's safe to guess which tank that is. or vise versa. It might of depended on the factory worker at that moment.
