I also need econoline vin help. I bought a 1966 (at least I think it is) Econoline with only a bill of sale. I applied for a title only to be told the vin is invalid. The vin# on the driver's door is:
E14FH863066
the rest of the tag reads:
90W E140 289 G 02
0 3650 089 3800 51
Is it possible the year of the van is different? It's possible the driver's door could have been changed at some point in it's life, is there any other place on the van where the vin# is (chassis)?
Thanks for your help.
Joe

door could have definetly been changed! happens all the time.
in the right rear corner there is a brace that runs vertically, the vin should be stamped into this brace. sometimes you have to do a little sanding to find it, but it should be there. the only other place is under the dog house, you realy dont want to go there!
i will decode the info and post it back here when i get it.

looks like everything is kosher, if this all matches your van!
E14 = Econoline van
F = 170 engine
H = Lorain Ohio assembly plant
863066 = May 1966 serial number - 1966 model
90 = wheelbase
W = Marlin Blue paint
E140 = 1/2 ton van
2 = blue standard interior
89 = van body style
G = C4 automatic trans
02 = 4.00:1 light duty axle (7-1/4 inch)
3650 = 1/2 ton GVW
89 at 3800 = certified net HP at RPM
51 = Denver sales district
let me know if it all matches please.

Vin Decode
Hey guys,
Just bought a 63 econoline pickup and saw the posting earlier on the one vin decode. My Vin is E10TH402657
090 M E104 87A F02
I've got the first part but the second section i'm confused on. Mine has a 4 speed coulum and if A=3 speed than were the codes different each year? Thanks
Matt

here you go.
E10 = Econoline pickup
T = 170 engine
H = Lorain Ohio assembly plant
402657 = April 1963 serial number (1963 model)
090 = wheelbase
M = Corinthian White paint
E104 = 3/4 ton pickup (4350 GVW)
87A = pickup with standard trim/interior
F = 4 speed transmission (Dagenham)
02 = 4.00:1 light duty axle (7-1/4 inch)
(4350) = 3/4 ton GVW
(85 at 3600) = certified net HP at RPM
(??) = ?? sales district
the 4 speed and column are a very hard to find option. the trans's are also not very tough. IF it is still good, be very carefull with it when you are driving.
the dagenham is not an overdrive trans, just has 1 more gear in the middle than the others.

Thanks
Thanks Jim. I just plan on putting around and maybe hauling light stuff in the back. Do you still think I should swap it out? If it's a total piece of crap, than it maybe better in the long run to throw somthing else under there. I dunno, what to you think? This truck is cool though!!
Thanks
Matt
Thanks
