tranny swap

guys
I need a little help here. I have a 69 camper special F250 2wd with a 360/C6 combo. The tranny just blew out in it and I want to replace it with a 435 4 speed. How involved is the swap? Do I need any special crossmembers? IS there welding involved? Do I need a special 435? I have a divorced unit out of a 4x4 truck and a married unit out of a 300 six/435 setup. Ive never done a swap like this so I need some help before i undertake such a feat! THANKS AGAIN!
regards

NUT,
here is a list...

you will need...

all the clutch pedal stuff
the clutch pivot brackets and linkage
a flywheel and clutch housing for a 360 or 390 if you don't have one
the crossmember is the same reuse it in the foward set of holes
you may also need to change your floor tunnel cover
and the driveshaft all depends on what the truck had with the C6

umm I think thats about it, am I forgetting something?
you might want to change out your auto column to get rid of the extra shifter but you don't have to.

its really a pretty easy swap

Russel, Is there something wrong with the column or are you just wanting to swap?

John,
There is nothing wrong with it except for the fact that in 78 the neutral start switch was mounted on the tranny but in 68 it was mounted on the column. So on the 78 column there is nowhere to mount the switch. Aren't you in NC

Russ
i have 2 steering columns complete--they are rough--prob need to be worked on some--came out of a 68 4x4 pickup with manual trans and the other i believe (not sure) came out of a 74?? 4x4 with manual trans..i have em both sitting in my junk pile out here. I cut em out of two of my trucks and the harness is cut. However, I dont think that these columns are what you are after! wish I could help more!

Be advised that a divorced 435 out of a 4x4 may not have a speedometer provision in the tailhousing - the speedo cable comes out of the transfer case!
