Unhappy $225 t-stat house bolt

I hate breaking bolts, but I hate not being able to get them out even more. I really really hate buying new parts to replace perfectly good parts because I can't get the broken bolt out.

Translation - I was expecting to spend about 20 minutes changing my t-stat and housing out with a 203 and a billet house today. Instead, I spent about 6 hours because of one little 6mm bolt. I broke it off with about 1/4" sticking out but my drill bit jumped and then it broke in the hole. That was part of the first 3 hours. Finally realized I was gonna have to pull the pump, so I called a friend for a ride to the parts store for a new pump and 3 hours later and $225 poorer I had the broken bolt fixed.

Oh yeah, at some point, snapped the little hose tit off of the coolant res. and broke both of the bolts that hold the powerstroke plate on over the fuel filter.

Not my day.

What a frickin day for you eh? Now I see why so many folks have replaced the factory cheap housing with the billet unit. I did it, but my bolts did not break. Some days you beat the bolt, some days the bolt beats you.
