Could someone tell me what should be connected to the manifold vacuum port located just in front of my 2150 2bbl carb, and just behind the large smog pump port in the manifold? I've been trying to get my vacuum lines located in the most accurate places. Mil1ion has been helping me out with some suggestions over the past couple of nights...Thanks for that.
I have a '79 F150 351M with a C6 tranny. Most of the smog pump system has been eliminated or bypassed. Someone took the vacuum line from the bright finished canister that is connected by what looks to be a 1 inch hose to the smog pump and stuck it onto the manifold port that I described earlier. This just doesn't look right.
Normally the vacuum port from the carb runs to the controlled vacuum switch at the front of the engine, with the vacuum line from the distributor running to the same spot
Hi Dennis. The linked picture is a little confusing to me. It shows the dist vacuum going directly to manifold vacuum....? Like Farmnaggie, I'm re-doing my vacuum lines. I'm running manifold vacuum to the outside port of the TVS (located on thermostat housing). The dist will run to the center TVS port, and the carb ported vacuum will run to the inside TVS port.
This gives manifold vacuum to the dist at start-up and until the engine thermostat opens, then it switches to carb ported vacuum. (This results in a longer fuel burn time and faster idle until warm-up, at which time vacuum switches to carb ported vacuum for normal operation.)
What do you think of this setup? Is this correct (for a 78 351M)?
Thanks for any advice, and Farmnaggie excuse me for hijacking your thread.
I plan on integrating the TVS/VCV into the vacuum advance hose routing this week, and I'll post back the results. I'm hoping it'll improve cold start-up drivability.
