The problem is this: When I turn the key, the starter whines, exactly like it isn't engaging the flywheel. I am going on a date with my GF tonight and this is quite dissapointing, lol. I need some ideas, quickly please if you can.
The truck is a 1971 F250 Camper Special, restored.
Engine is a V8 Built 390.
That is all I know really, I am only 17 and this was a gift from my father.
check all your cables to make sure they are tight, make sure the starter is bolted up tight to the block, if everything is tight and the starter is not loose, you have a bad starter....hope this helps, Charles
yep, I'm also with bendix. If you've got a stick, you can roll start the truck by rolling it in either direction, putting it in first or reverse, depending on the direction you're going, and pop the clutch. don't feather it, like shifting, just let it out real fast and then put it in. This will get you started for your date. if you've got an automatic your sol.
