I have ordered a 06 f250 xl supercab 4x4 6.0l. I was wondering what would be a good trailer for towing 2 atvs back and forth to the mountains. It's about 350miles each way. The atv's wiegh about 700lbs each. I didn't get the trailer packages installed on the truck, as I thought most of my towing was "light weight". Did I screw up no getting ford trailer packages?
I live in NC. Isn't there a weigth requirement on trailers for brakes? I was hoping to get by with something like a landscape trailer. 13-14 inch wheels. I am used to renting when I have to tow. Using a f150. I would just like to buy something fairly cheap to get the atv's home during the winter to do maintenance on them.
my heaviest atv is about 700lbs. so I shouldn't exceed that weight. I was just wondering if anyone has any utility trailers they have used and can suggest manufacturers.
Why not an aluminum snomobile trailor? you can get them either as a falt deck, a gaurded front (chip gaurd) or enclosed and tehy weigh little to nothing and can be had for $1-$2k depending on style, manufacturer and extra equipment. the other good thing is you don't need ramps and there are usually plenty of places to tie the cargo down.
thanks SLE. can you point me at a manufacturer.Or should I just search for snow mobile trailers? They are atvs, so they don't mind getting dirty or chipped on the highway. I do worse to them when I accidently role them in the hills.
For a small landscape trailer for pulling ATV's, you don't need a brake controller. Since they all use a simple 4 wire setup, your truck is already equipped to handle it.
Hell tedbev I bought meself a triton model # SL-8 for just what you are doing, You can load or unload the atv from either side, here is there site- http://www.tritontrailers.com/utatv_trailers.asp.
