04 F140 owner here. I was on the road all week and had a new Mustang as my rental. WOW!!! Nice Car. Well built, solid, clean and really fun to drive. I have been in the older Mustangs and they were marginal at best. This thing was NICE!!!
Hopefully, the reliability is there. If it is ... they have a winner. And if the other new vehicles are built that well (500, Fusion ...), Ford might just make it through this financial knot hole they are facing.
I sure hope so for I want them to keep making vehicles. Ford cannot survive on Truck revenues alone. They need the car market.
Ford's new cars and trucks are great, but I think the electronic throttle is a real detractor. Why is it that Ford can make a responsive electronic throttle for Jaguar, but not one for their own brands? I drove an S-type, XK8, XKR, XJ8 and XJR in school, all electronic throttle, none had any lag. Drove an 05 F-150, noticable lag. Same thing with the Mustang. I couldn't imagine driving one with a manual, and trying not to stall it. From what I have heard, that is a problem with the diesel trucks now. Too much throttle lag, and they stall easily.
I don't like new vehicles, but if I had to get something new, it would be a Ford.
wrong...the 05-06 V6's have 210 hp and the 05-06 GT's have 300 hp...i agree with ford reaching a turning point though
Sorry I was a little off on my numbers there, Haven't had to quote horsepower stats for the new ones in a few months. Everyones been talking about the shelby
I hadn't thought about the lad and a manual. That would be a problem. To be honest, there was a little bit of one with the stang I rented, but the thing was so fun I didn't care. I floored that sucker every chance I got. It broke tracktion all the time. I was up for 80 before I blinked.
Shelby GT500 will have 475 hp, not 450 hp.
Also available will be GT350H which will have 320 hp and it will be available for rent through Hertz dealers.
Also new for 2007 will be CS (California Special). Same 300 hp like in Mustang GT, but it will look little different.
And we're also expecting another SE for 2007 (probably Mach 1).
My youngest son, who still lives at home, has a 05 GT convertible. Of course ole dad gets to take it out sometimes and I love it. I've always loved hi-po cars and this one is no exception. It's got a nice ride, nice handling, moves like a rocket and, when you put that top down and floor it a little, it's got one sweet sound. His is black, black top, and red leather seats with red inserts on the door panels surrounded by black. About the only thing he didn't get was the Shaker 1000 sound system and a rear spoiler and the better wheels. If I were to get one, it'd be bright red with that red over black leather interior. Only way to go.

Unless I can find a 67, you just described my next car, with the exception of it saying shelby and has a superchared 5.4L in it
Having owned, restored, and driven daily a '68 and restored and showed a '67, I can safely say that the new Muglystang is bar none my least favorite car currently made (and considering its competition for that title, like the Element and that Scion Toaster-car, that's quite a statement), and might also possibly be my least favorite car of all time.
