I saw that some of you, have some wide tires on the back of your trucks, I was just wondering what is the widest any of you ever put on and did it give you any problems.
Thanx
I ran 275-60-15s on my 68 in High School. They rubbed just slightly on the inner fender. I think you could go wider with the right wheel offset. you would have to do some good measuring and get a wheel that put the tire in the right spot. I suspect you could go 315-45-16s or the like. In my opinion, they might look a little too low profile for a truck.
I showed my dad your question who has been in tire business 20 something years. He said that could put 275 60 15 on rear w/ 225 70 15 on front. Or 235 70 15 on front w/ 295 50 15 on rear or you could put 255 60 15 all the way around. My personally choice would be the second one, but its not my choice! Hope this can help you. All these combonations shouldnt rub.
It would seem my 1969 F-250 has some of the biggest meats on it then- I roll 295/50/16s on all around- and damn, does it look good. I think they are the perfect size, never rubbed.

I am currently making a web site of my truck. As soon as I get it up and running (the website, not the beast) I will post a link for you guys. I would advise 295/50/16 tires, its my daily driver and its stock suspension/ride height. The tires look good, just the right width.

Rebuilt 360 with a .030 overbore, Carter AFB Comp 750cfm carb, Edelbrcok Alum. 390 intake, heads built with hydraulic lifters, 390 Hooker Comp. headers, dual Flowmaster 40 series. Tranny was rebuilt at same time- C6. I have drums out back, updated to disk brakes up front, I have the brake booster too. I have never had a problem going or stopping in this beast.

Congrats on havin a truck at such a young age.
I ran 275/60/15's on 10" rear and 245/60/15's on 8" front for over 10 years, rears had pretty deep offset, no rubbing but caused rear axle bearing to wear out once. Small price to pay for looking Kool!! With the Current rodstoration being almost (still) finished I'm going with 17" wheels all around, 9.5" rear, 8" front, with less offset and more backspace since truck is lowered now and tires go up into fender. Trying to blend old school and new. Anyway I tried BF Goodrich G-Force 285/40/17 on rear and 245/45/17 on 8" front, fit ok, but I did not like the way the rear looked from a straight on side view. The tires looked a little weak in the fender well. So took them back and am going with BF Goodrich T/A 275/60/17 rear, and 245/50/17 front. There are pictures of this in my gallery. I have lots of power to move the bigger rears, and since I've lowered rear about 5" and front 5" they still tuck up inside fenders. And I couldn't quite see myself using 20's. But I imagine 315/40/20's would work and look OK on rear. If your 302 is stock you might want to stick with 255 on 8" until you start doing performance upgrades, if not I'm sure 275 on 10" would be fine. Good Luck. Trevor the CACWBY in WI.
i'v put 35's on my 15's i dont know exactly how wide they are..pretty wide, paid like 94 a tire

I'm only 15 to! what a coinsidence lol, turn 16 this november O WELL THEY ISSUE FARMERS PERMITS IN WY. ha. anyways yeah i guess i'm not much help considering i dont now the exact width on mine and dont no the space u have with ur normal tires
i got my first 70 ford F100 when i was 16 about 4 years ago and put on 290 60 15's smothies they look really sharp and i've had a lot of comments on them, i dont have my pick online yet because i've pulled my engine and am trying to finance putting it back together and paying for college, i never had any rubbing problems and by going from 215's to 290's the smothness of the ride increased dramatically, i might be interested in selling them now so i can get closer to putting my engine back together, let me know what you think and if you have rims yet i'll send you a pick and you can let me know what you think
