Replacement tranny?
I have an '84 F-150 4WD. The drive chain is stock except for the motor. The original 302 was replaced with an older 289 by a previous owner. The tranny is a stock automatic 3 speed. I get terrible mileage (yeah, I know), and I'd like to replace it with an overdrive automatic. Are there any 4 speed auto trannys that will swap out, and fit the 289/302, without major fabrication? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

for the actuall tranny or what? you should be able to trade yours into a tranny shop towards an aod, if you were near by id trade you staight up for one, so you might get lucky and find someone nearby that will trade.

I guess what I trying to ask is what specific model AOD I'm looking for. I not well versed in truck stuff-but you can ask about anything about a Mustang!
