83 460 time degree marks ??

83 460 time degree marks ??
Well I have the white line on the balancer but where you would set to match on the bracket or indicator there are no marks to show the degree marks to go by. Is there something missing on mine and can you show me picks of how it should look??? THanks, Dave.

Dave, your balancer should have the degree numbers (10, 20, 30 etc... stamped into the outside surface on your balancer ring. Zero starts at the "line" and you should also have btdc stamped on it too. The balancer always get rusty, so a wire wheel on a drill motor will clean off the rust and clean up the timing reference numbers.

Sounds like you are missing the little stamped steel bracket that bolts to the right (passenger) front side of the engine.
Get one off an '86/87 or earlier 460, and it should bolt right on.
Don't get one off an engine with the serpentine aluminum brackets; it is slightly different. Those should be fuel injected, '88 and later.
