question for 72 Camper Special

I read your post about the Volvo mounting plate for the stereo and went out and bought one. Did you put in a CD player or an older style stereo with *****? I understand the part where you said you drilled through the plastic tabs into the ears on the dash, but how did you attach the stereo to the mounting plate? Did you use any other brackets to hold up the stereo or is the mounting plate the only thing that holds it up?
thanks for the great idea

question for 72 Camper Special

The mounting kit fits in upside down. I put in a DIN stereo. I used a backstrap to a bolt that looks like it just holds a clip for a wire. The nut is on the underside of the cutout for the factory speaker. Just bend the ears back and drill into them with an angle drill sideways to mount the faceplate kit. Shouldn't be too hard unless you already had a radio and had the whole aluminum thing across the front of the ears. bryan
