Iv'e read many post concerning leaf brackets's. The opinions vary. I wouldn't call them junk, alot of guys use them cause there cheap, some because they retain stock springs (thus ride). I'm acctually thinking about a set myself to use along with the add a leaf leveling kit..... but still trying to figure out how to get excactaly 4" in the rear.
I would stay away from it. Not spring hanger/shackle kits in general, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a well designed/built one, just the one you listed. For one, it requires you to either scrap the crush bar or build your own mounts and doesn't take into account that 3" is going to throw your trac bar way off and doesn't come with a drop bracket to correct that. Also, they're unknown and may not have put the same care into R&D. And to be perfectly frank, the picture they have up makes their work look weak and under gunned for an SD compared to the big name manufacturer's like Donahoe Racing, Skyjacker, etc.
Environcon - It depends on the springs with the 3" shackle lift. If he's got the gutless 2 spring set, then it won't actually lift the front 3 inches...maybe 2 1/2" - maybe. Probably just 2 inches. The springs will give more the higher the truck is lifted.
If not, you are exactly right.
As far as that particular kit - it looks mighty weak.
That reminded of one case in particular - on the extreme side. A friend of mine had an '82 Jeep Laredo; nice jeep. He wanted to install Q Buckshots on it without moving the axles below the springs. Hardheaded guy, too...I tried to tell him, but he knew a who-o-ole lot more than I did. He called me about midnight in a tizz, said he was in a bind and begged me to come over. He had added 6" shackles and only raised the front 2 1/2" inches. LOL! The front springs especially, looked like a couple of wet willow sticks hung under there. He finally moved the axles below the springs, installed a 3" shackle kit and was good to go.
We called him Newton's (illegitimate kid) for many years...
Thanks . Thought it looked pretty weak myself. Thought maybe someone on here tried it. Probably going to go with the Donahoe . Just bought truck and it sags 4" lower in ft. but rides super. kind of likr to keep the ride. Thank again not only for this post but the thousands ive read and learned from on this site. pic: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...111019&width=0
