It automatically shuts off your fuel in the event of an accident. Your manual will identify its location. I thought it completely shut off the fuel though. Generally, I think all vehicles have this inertia switch now. Usually near the passenger door behind the interior kick panel.
Win, lose, or draw it is a great suggestion though.
A "great suggestion though"?, are you crazy...YOU DA MAN!!!
My baby is back! , AND YOU SAVED ME a fair amount of money...vacation time, dealer pricing on the fuel filters, labor for changing the fuel filters, and any unknown issues that might have come up as a result of doing the 06E17 recall without hearing enough definitive feedback on its impact on performance...I'm cancelling the service appointment.
What I failed to mention in the original post was that my little crinkling booboo, at Sam's Club's parking lot, caused the passenger pillar to be pushed in at the lower hing by about 1/8" to 1/4 ", requiring them to work on the pillar before replacing the door. I don't know what they did to trip it, but when I reached into the little slot at the top of the kick panel and felt the round switch click down when I pressed on it, I got a real good feeling. I took it out for a test drive and did I say already MY BABY IS BACK! I am very thankful for getting one of the 03s that has had no problems and gives me 19 mpg with summer diesel...it made me absolutely sick seeing her run like she was, it was too coincidental that it was fine before the repair, and virtual junk after.
Once again KW5413, YOU DA MAN!
Somebody slap me!
Boy, what a brain flatulent!
My profoundest apologies Mr. Big Inch! For some reason I thought it was KW5413 that gave the info...wow, how embarrassing.
Something that came to my mind while reading the description of what happend was the fuel inertia switch may have been tripped when they were doing the body work. It is located in the pass. kick panel area. I have heard that diesels will run with them tripped, but have never verified it myself. It's something you might check.
