another new member ( Just sayin Hey )
Just joined yesterday. Live in raleigh. have a 94 f150 brilliant blue supercab ( my baby ). Just ordered a 2006 f250 6.0l 4x4 supercab. Not so brilliant blue. Old Tired Rebel pointed me at this forum. I do a lot out in the southern nc mountains where most good old boys own ford power strokes. Lots of work for them out there. Hope to see some of you around.

the good part :)
Just kiddin, my wife and I are building a homestead outside of Franklin, in Cowee Valley. Our own little piece of heaven. We're planning on retiring up their to live with the "good" people. We're about 30min north of the Ga. border. We love the area, the people are great. The neibors are helpful and friendly. It's given us faith in the human race again. Near the Nantahala State forest, until George W. decides to sell it all off. Maybe we'll try to buy more . Silver lining to every cloud.

the best thing to do...
we were told by a real estate guy in Raleigh, the best thing to do is find an area you're interested in. Go camping, or visiting. Spend you time riding around the area. Stop on the side of the road, and ask the locals if they know anyone selling property. Chances are, most people in the mountains are selling, or know someone selling, they just don't advertise. It's by word of mouth. It also gives you a chance to meet people that might be your neighbors. We found having a cookout on a somewhat regular basis and inviting your neighbors helps everyone feel like a community.
We did the ride around and camp thing, and just got really lucky. Coming from Raleigh, I don't have all the right toys for country living, ATV's, Tractors, Backhoes, Bulldozers etc. But ussually one of my neighbors does.

no problem
Hey Jowilker,
you're not cuttin in. I just wanted to say hi to everyone... I got a lot of good info from these forums. I have been a ford driver for many years. More than I want to remember. My 94 f150 has about 135K miles on her, and I've been wanting a super duty for many years. I finally have enough money for one so I ordered it last week. 2006 f250 4x4 6.0l super cab. I'm psyched. I have been reading all the posts about the earlier years of the 6.0 I hope ford has the bugs worked out of it by now. I read a lot of posts from 05 and 06 owners, and they love them. I hope I will too.
Yeah, this area is exploding. I bought here about 13 years ago. We were in the county. Now the city has annexed us. More taxes. Oh well, the price of progress.
