Using the forums, and the books, I found out that I apparently have a problem with my factory trailer lights. The fuse for the Anti-lock brakes blew, (and kept on blowing), and under the hood the fuse for the trailer backup lamps and running lamps was also blown. So, now that I 'know' where the problem is, how do I fix it? I don't know wiring too well, I haven't changed anything with the trailer lights or taillights or any lights in a long time. I dunno what to do. The only thing I've done recently was a DIY bedliner but that didn't mess with any of the wiring. Thanks in advance.
Did you drill through the bed at any point to do the bed liner? The rear wiring harness runs under the driver side. A second, easily checked point is a trailor harness connection (parts stores sells a connector that snaps in by the rear bumper, the harness has a connector back that you separate and insert this device in. Last, easy place is under the drivers door sill, if you installed steps the harness could have been punctured by a screw.
My factory installed trailer harness plug(seven pin connector) had corosion in it from the winter. Two of the pins must have shorted and the fuse blew for my trailer running lights. Check, if you have a plug, for any corosion.
ok, I've gone through, and disconnected every connector under the hood and truck, and I still have the problem. does this mean I have a problem at the fuse panel? fuse 13 is popping everything I try to stick in there, abs is flashing 15 times (memory failure), this is getting painful
