The 4wd thumps at +/- 90 mph and locks up as if the 4wd is engadged, but then releases agian this will continue to 100mph, is this due to the speed or the wheels. This did happen from 60 mph, but we replaced the VSS sensor and gear RH19 witch moved the thump to 90mph. We replaced the VSS and gear for error code P0503 it has helped but not totally.
Are all of your tires properly inflated and have very close to the same wear? Any diameter difference will be exagerated at the higher speeds. My '03 can hit those speeds and remain smooth.
I had to go an look at the speedometer on my '97 and was surprised to see that it goes to 120. My '91 only goes to 85 and that's faster than I care to go in it. The main difference on these two vehicles seems to be the front suspension. Do torsion bars really make that much difference on high-speed handling?
you darn right they do...torsion bars are awesome. i had a '92 that had a speedo that went to 85 mph... on more than one occasion i was pegging the needle so i know i was hitting 100+ mph. wasnt very stable but i didnt feel like i was in imminent danger... my 97 at those speeds is much more comfortable
