I am having a problem w/ the A/C and heat, when they are on I get this hissing noise. After reading through some threads here it said there was a vacuum line near the battery that breaks, well, look what I found,
Any idea where it is suppose to goto? I looked around but couldn't find another unconnected line and I don't have a decent manual for this truck.
have you had the check engine light come on? I've had mine come on and go off on its own. I did have it read and reset once and i was told that it was for a vacuum leak. I haven't noticed a hissing, but wondering if I may have the same problem.

No SES. I checked for codes a few months ago and didn't have any. I can check again though. Even if it did throw a code I still wouldn't know where to put the line back.
Can anyone w/ an 03 take a look at their engine bay and see if they can tell where the line goes?
Here is a picture of the way those hoses are routed in my '97 Expedition. I'm sure your '03 is a little different, but maybe this picture will help a little.
I'll bet your broken hose is the one that goes through the firewall, to the heater/AC controls. In your picture, follow the hose that is to the lower left of your index finger. This may actually be the opposite end of the broken hose.

Just so I'm clear. You have 3 hoses connected at the white disc that I added a red circle around? I only have the two larger hoses. If so I bet thats where mine is broken from.
Nope, still no luck, I pulled out the battery and unhooked a bunch of stuff the other day but just couldn't figure out where it goes. I think I'm going to need to find someone else w/ an 03 and put them side by side to figure this one out. The line going to the firewall it in tact.
I Can't really tell from the picture. The firdt pic is best. But on mine at that "disc" (Looks different onn an 03), I have 1 going down, 1 going toward the back of the engine and 1 that goes around the back of the battery. It even has a tag on it that says AC. Am I close to what your looking at or way off?
On my 03 I have 2 separate connections in the area where your hand is. That 90 degree connection to the left of your hand goes down towares the bottom of engine and other end goes to rear firewall near the battery. The other connection (maybe the broke line in your picture) goes towards the engine and other end in the rear firewall near battery. I took a few pictures but I can't attach them for some reason. The bottom of the webpage says i may not post attachments. sorry
Well, I finally got fed up not knowing what this line was for, so I pulled the battery and tray out, then the fender liner and traced the line down to the front spindle at the half shaft, must be some sort of vent tube for the spindle, and yes, I checked the other side, theres another one ziptied to one of the brake lines at the master cylinder.
