An entire week of primitive camping and Elk hunting. No phone, no "on call", no worries. But lets not forget going to the accountant yesterday to get the taxes done expecting to pay and than getting a nice return$$$ tranny money for the F250!!!
Hmm. What makes me feel free. So much in this world makes me feel not free (school, work etc) but what makes me feel free is hanging out with my girl, going for drives in the truck, getting out into nature and lately it's been video games. :P Not sure why either.
18 holes with my girl on a nice course, cruisin somewhere on a nice day with the windows down and the music up, hikin through the woods, up a mountain, where ever. I can't wait for the nicer weather to get here! Oh, and if I really need to get away and blow off some steam... Hit up the shooting range and put some lead down range... talk about liberating. No one will mess with you either
Sailing....way offshore under a full moon, with billions of stars above..... total freedom and completely puts your life and existence into perspective...
...and the lumenescence of the wake, trailing behind you; the life of the Earth transmitted through the water and wind, and into your hands holding the tiller and sheet.
So true Dag...spoken like a Norseman.

Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off – then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship.
