My mechanic verified what I believed but he said that he needs to remove the exhaust to replace the oil pan on my 96 f350 4X4 with a 5.8
I thought there was a way to do this without removing the exhaust. I know the engine has to be lifted slightly to do this.
Please help!!!!!!!!
You have to do more than lift the engine "a little". I did the oil pan in my '93 F250 5.8 last year, and I had to strip the top down to the lower intake manifold to get it high enough. You also have to raise the rear of the tranny about 1.5" or so. On mine, the passenger side exhaust manifold had to come off as well. Then the engine was lifted until it hit the firewall, and it was still tight getting the new pump/pickup tube bolted in (has to be done with the pan in place).
Like others said, do a search. I wrote a post of the whole process I went through.
