New Ford Intercooler
We now offer brand new from Ford this intercooler from the 2005, 6.0L trucks. This intercooler fits directly into the 1999-2003 trucks with 7.3L Powerstroke engines. This intercooler is larger than the stock intercooler and has improved flow through the end tanks. This allows for cooler EGTs and more power due to cooler intake air into the engine. It is a direct replacement for the factory 7.3L intercooler when installed using the tube and hump hose kit shown above. Intercooler $395, Intercooler with tubes and hump hoses $595
Would it fit a '97? or should I go with a 6.0 IC? Seems like a decent price for a new ic (also from a new site sponsor)
It will fit, but it will take some modding to get it right. There are several guys who have installed the 6.0L intercooler into the early powerstrokes. Get the pipes with it and modify them to fit. You will need to trim something, but I forget what it is. I think that Luke Kline is a member on this forum and he has done the swap. Might want to look him up.
Yes it installs the same as a 7.3 superduty intercooler. Only difference is you need a boot that goes from 3.25" to 3", its a 6oh factory boot i got mine from ford for about 50 bucks.
I was just able to pick up a 6.0 intercooler for free! Thats right,FREE! My buddy has a 06' Powerstroke and just installed the full Banks kit. He let me have his old intercooler and tubes. The tubes look like they bend in the wrong directions to work. Has someone used the stock 6.0 tubes? If so how did you do it? I was thinking of trying to use some 3" exhaust pipe and bending it the right way.
