dropped my truck off at northeast diesel specialties today to diagnose and address my fuel leak problem i posted here earlier. one the way up there, one of my buddies drove the truck up and i followed. seeing as this is my first manual vehicle, i have no idea when something doesnt feel right. he said the clutch is engaging really low. when we got to the shop, the head mechanic (a friend of mine) said the master cylider and slave cylinder probably werent replaced when the clutch/flywheel were replaced right before i bought the truck. any thoughts on this? the mechanic said he would take the truck for a test drive and let me know whether or not he thought they should be replaced.
i bet its just the dumb plastic bushing wore out. check the clutch linkage bushing and the arm that goes on the pedal box shaft to make sure its tight also.
i bet that before the hydraulics. is it leaking anywhere? if you push in the clutch and put it in gear and hold it over a minute or so does it load the motor up like your letting the clutch out?
things just keep getting better and better! ontop of being awoken this morning at 4am to respond to a structure fire, i got a phone call around 10am from my mechanic saying i need to replace the master and slave cylinders, and i need a new fuel pump. its a good thing i love this truck!
well, my parents picked up my truck last night. mom drove it home and said all was well out of the parking lot, but when she got off the highway near my house and went to put it back into 2nd to take off, it wouldnt go into gear (any of them!). Dad got it home and we ended up trailering it back up to the shop (an hour away from home) at 11pm last night on the back of a mack with a load-all. what happened!?!?!?!
