What do you plan on using the truck for IE just driving,performance or hauling or modding the diesel for performance or both ..
5speed is allright for most needs but certain answers alot of guys will ask you first what drivetrain gears' it has?

In my opinion, both are tough trannys.

I thought all 99-newer PSD diesels manuals were six speeds? It's been awhile since I last drove the 6-spd but I remembered the **** labeled L, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, R. That qualifies as a six speed because the L is a low geared forward gear.
