i dont know anything about this year of truck how much trouble would it be to put the 55 body on a 87 ranger frame (4X4) i know it lots of work my main ? is the width of theses 2 trucks about the same wheelbase should be close just wondering if anyone has tryed this thanks all and there are a lot of good looking out there
Much harder than it appears by far because everything about the newer frame will be totally different. Check back in the older threads. Making all the changes to remount the body is fairly hard and time consumming.
I've never seen one personally that I liked...there's always something "not quite right" about how the wheels look within the fenders.
By the time you got done modifying the new frame to make it look right, you might as well have just done what guys usually do...splice on a late model front clip and keep the stock frame from firewall back.
I don't see how it could be a time or money saver, which seems to be supported by the fact that 90% of the "darksiders" out there go with a new front clip instead of an a complete donor frame.
A custom built frame is another story, and another level of expense.
There was one guy who did a very good job - but he also had to change his floor boards and part of the cowl to get the cab to sit right onto the frame.
