Will a 76 4wd front end work ok to swap out a twin i beam front end on a 75? i searched around for a bit but the computer is acting slower and slower so just decided to post. If theres another post already about this I'll check it out. If not thanks for any help.
That does seem like a headache! The story behind my deal is I have a front axle, transfer case, tailhousing from a C6 (as well as the tranny) and all the little things I figured I'd need all being extra parts from another truck. A friend of mine has a 75 F250 2WD thats been in his family for years but wants to make it a 4 wheel drive. I'll let him know about the headaches and to maybe reconsider. With all the parts already at hand it didn't seem like to bad of an idea lol!
Dennis, I have a 4x4 frame that I am going to put my 2wd body on, so I'm cheating a little. The parts (t-case, steering system) I'm finding aren't exactly what I want/need for my project.
I would agree that it's too much work to make a 2wd frame into a 4x4 frame... unless you have a lot of time, money, patience, and fab skills. And even once you are done, you will have a one-of-a-kind unique frame under your truck. What happens when this frame rots or bends/breaks? If you had a 4x4 frame, replacement would be much more simple. And then all of the custom parts that may need replacing as they wear out...
