speedometer seal round glass

speedometer seal round glass
trying to get this thing put back togeather , is their a part number for the round seal for the glass that cover the speedometer to the dash. i pulled all the old back seal out of the dash bazel , trying to find something to reseal it with.
any help or part number , thanks

I do not know what that black crusty stuff was that came off the glass and metal. I did not find any reference in parts catologs as to what to seal it with, so I improvised. I used indoor outdoor silicone caulk. I ran a thin bead on the cleaned metal surface and the just set the glass in place. I pressed it some so there was contact all the way around. On the opposite side I used a wet rag to clean up the excess. Don't press to hard when cleaning the other side or you will mess up the seal. Let dry overnight and your done.

I use a thin ribbon of dum dum, or as some call it duct seal. Green or black in color and available at electrical supply house. it is used to seal the incoming main power cable to the meter box. Once the speedo is back together trim the excess with a sharp E-Xacto knife.
Silicone works too but provides a little too much grip if you have to get it back apart for service or it gets broken.

Hey John its the dried black stiff that looks like... welll crap....It is put in the recess and the glass is set into it. most of the time it disentrigrates and allows dust to accumulate on the speedo face.
