Stumbling when cold

I got my ahrd start issue fixed with a new FPR, rebuilt injectors and a new fuel filter. Now the truck jerks and bucks until it runs for a few minutes and heats up. If I put it under load, IE:letting out clutch to move, it jerks until I have to give it gas to keep it from stalling. The shifter bounces all over from the motor shaking. I didn't have this until I did all the work mentioned above! I replaced the TPS, and the ACT sensors. I bought a code scanner and plan to scan tonight.

Another thing, it runs EXTREMELY rich until the problem goes away and then it runs perfect with no rich smell at all in the exhaust. In fact it smells beter than it ever has once it warms up.

I am stumped!

Anyone got any suggestions?

Check the fuel pressure and look for fuel in the FPR vacuum line after it's run for a few. Also see what the fuel pressure bleed-down time is.

Well I did a code test. With Key on engine off, I got a code 21 and 24

After following all the instructions and i did the Key on engine on, all I got then was a 21.

21= Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) out of Self-test range
24= Air Charge Temp (ACT) out of Self-test range

The ACT sensor is brand new. That code went away once the engine was started and the codes pulled, however the ECT code remains and that sensor I have not replaced yet? Those were the only two codes.

Should I replace the ECT sensor or could it be something else?

Oh yeah, FPR is a week old. That is what fixed my hard start problem.

Did you have the truck up to operating temperature when you pulled the codes, if you didn't you would get the ECT code.

If you did have it up to temp I would run the pinpoint tests before replacing anything, drop me an email with the details if you need the tests.

You never know about a new part.

Well I started the truck and let it run for about 3 minutes before I run the codes. I don't knowhow long I was supposed to let it run, the book said 2 minutes.

Yeah, please PM with the pinpoint tests. I would like to save $18 if I could.

You're supposed to idle it high @ ~2000 rpm for 2-3 minutes to 'warm it up' (at least that's how the book that came with my scanner says)... I usually just go ahead and (try to, as the case may be?) drive it around and let it warm up that way and pull codes after I get it parked.

You may also want to use the procedure in your book to clear all the error codes as well, then do a KOEO and KOER and see what you come up with.

Well I will let it sit and idle about 10 minutes tomorrow and try again. I can't get it out of the garage to drive it right now. I would have to shuffle a million cars around. I'd say 10 minutes would be good enough to warm it up. I will pull the codes again after I do that.

You should have the temp gauge up to the normal spot, like you were driving for 5-10 minutes.

You'll need to drop me an email, can't send files through PMs.
