transmission swap
I am changing my 82 f-150 4x4 to a 2 wheel drive manual instead of an automatic. I would like it to be a 4x4 but I don't have the money for the transmission or the parts to change it to a 4x4. I have a 2 wheel drive 4 speed borg and warrner. I still need a flywheel and drive shaft. My flywheel was for a 300 but the truck its going in is a 302 I bought one from a guy I know that said that it was for a 302 but when I started the truck it shoke like crazy. I just shut it back off. I need to know how much to take off to balance it to work. The flywheel turned out to be for a 300 also. Info is needed.

The flywheel is externally balanced. It is not the right flywheel for the motor. I want to make it work however It bolts up but the weight is wrong. would it be cheaper to buy a new one or have this flywheel machined.

302 engines have two externally balance flywheel, here is a picture of a 1978 302 cid flywheel (28.o ounce) on left side and an 1987 302 cid flywheel (50 ounce) on right. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...101757&width=0

i had the flywheel balanced for a 302 once machine shop done it all they need to balance the flywheel is your crankshaft and rod and piston is it worth pulling the crank out that is up to you i would buy the right flywheel
