Polishing stock 20" F-250 wheels

I have a set of the stock 20" mag wheels that come with the 2006 F-250s and I have a bunch of fine swirl marks on them already. Have any on you guys experienced this and if so have any of you successfully polished them out.

I am not sure exactly, but I would assume they are clearcoated rims, as are my 17" F250 wheels. In that case polishing them would lead to trouble... in that you would be burning through clearcoat and not really polishing the metal itself. A good way to test it out is to take some polish on a small soft cloth and rub it into the metal. If you get a black film on the rag you have a non clearcoated metal and you can continue to polish with great results. If nothing seems to be coming off onto the cloth they are clearcoated and you will do damage if you polish long enough and hard enough.
