youll have to get motor mounts from L&L or something. Have to get different flywheel and clutch if it is a manual. is is internally or externally balanced. bellhousing is the same
L&L or Performance Unlimited mounts, exaust manifolds from a van will make running the exaust easier or L&L offers both chassis and fender exit headers. Then the obvious stuff like accessories and their mounts, hoses, belts and possibly upgraded radiator depending on what you have now. L&L offers a complete kit for the swap but its costly and can be done with a bit of research and creativity.
I have a running 460 that is still in a 77 f-150 2x4. Will those motor mounts work? I have all the accessories and all still on this truck. and its a automatic
I didn't read close enuf. You need frame stands for the 460. The 351M is diff. I put a 460 out of a van into 4x2 F150 with 351 and I just made the frame stands for the 460 motor mounts to sit on. There was no prob with the exhaust manifolds.
Like he said, he does have another truck that has a 460, so he should have those stands as well...
If you wanna swap the huge 460 radiator, the core support is different, but you may be able to modify the brackets to fit the core support of the other truck.
I used the 351m radiator and it was marginally too small. I put external transmission cooler on to remove it from radiator. It heated up above normal one time hauling three horses and temp was about 95f and we had to run the heater at the same time to keep it in the high normal zone. Only about a 45 min trip, so wasn't too uncomfortable.
