the wife was, to say the least not very happy. I cant wait to see her expression when i roll up the driveway after i get it installed.
and for my grand finally i plan on getting the muffler delete pipe after she gets used to the sound of the 5"

Yeah, I remember when I installed my 5" system. My wife wanted to know why I was changing 'mufflers'. I told her that the stock system was very restrictive and reduced fuel mileage far too much. The 'new' system wouldn't be much louder than stock but would relieve the dreaded backpressure.

Right after I had it installed (I was laid up with a mangled knee and could not get under the truck if my life had depended on it), I drove around the corner and pulled into the driveway. She was outside in the yard killing weeds. She looked up, then got a surprised look on her face.

I asked her if it was 'too loud'. She said no, not loud at all but it sounded like a completely different truck. 'Not loud at all'. Of course, I was NOT standing on the throttle at the time. If you do that, it does get pretty noisy outside the cab (though still pretty quiet inside the cab).

She never asked if my fuel mileage improved - it didn't. But it didn't go down, either.

She won't even hear you roll up in the driveway, unless you live at the top of a hill. There's more noticeable turbo at low rpm's but the sound at idle is quiet. You could "stomp" it in the driveway and she won't be mad about the exhaust anymore...

Um. Well, with the muffler delete it should be a bit more noticeable. But my son has borrowed my truck a few times, and from inside the house, I can't hear the truck pull into the driveway. Really - it isn't loud unless you are flexing your right leg...

They sort of remind you of a pipe organ, don't they?

Smile How about stacks??

I would love to have a set of 5 inch stacks, and I know there are lots of them being sold out there, but I really can't afford the "Y" pipe inside the front of the bed. I would love to find someone that can manufacture a set of stacks (including the protective heat shield) like on the big rigs that goes outside the bed. I have a CrewCab dually and even if they are outside and behind the rear doors, they should still be within the width of the dually wheel wells. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great....otherwise I will do the "cannon" option soon......Take care, Dave

The first time I pulled the pipes out of the box, I thought there was a mistake and that they'd sent me sewer pipe by mistake.

In fact, most residential house sewer pipes aren't this big! On the truck, it looks absolutely enormous. But, weirdly, when I take pictures of it, the pix don't do it justice. It looks like a normal pipe in pictures. It is hard to get the scale with a photo, unless you put something in the picture that everyone can relate to.

Here is a bad photo, but the pipe simply doesn't look big - at least not in the photo. In person, well, it looks cavernous!

You have to compare the size of the pipe with something else for the full effect.

Mine is the same way. On the truck, looking at it, they're huge. Someone had posted a picture of a soda can standing up inside their 5" pipe. Today some guy behind me had his chin on the dash, trying to look over his hood to see the pipe. At first I couldn't figure out what he was doing. When the light turned green, I opened it up so he could hear it.

I see you don't have a chromed tip!!! Is that allowed?! To be honest, I don't either. I don't like shiny. It's a work truck.

When I first pulled my pipes out of the box I thought, "oh *****, these are never going to fit under there!" I was really suprised how easy it was.

Speak for youself Geoff. Just kidding. Got mine yesterday but simply had to take it out of the box and look at it. Then took a nap cause I had to work last night. Since I didn't want to cut mine off, had to do some creative driveway work today after sleeping half the day away but got er done, sort of. It's on there but it had gotten dark and the hawk was blowing out of the north to the tune of about a wind chill in the 20s. just gotta adjust, clamp and tighten tommorow. I took side by sides for comparison. I will try to post here shortly for those who might be curious. For those who were wondering like me, no trick to get the oem out without cutting unless you jack xmission and remove crossbrace. Turned out to be minor PITA even with my lame 2ton crap jack. Also, those of you who order Mark's exhaust, that dent in the 4" to 5" pipe is not there by accident. You'll find out why when you put it on.
