How many of you experience 30-40 seconds of wait time or longer when on this site going between threads. I don't have this kind of time !. Is this a case of the server being to small (I have had it say on screen server to busy try back). My computer is brand new no infections and tons of speed. I have no problem on other sites. Maybe it's time FTE gets a better/larger server. Thanks for letting me vent. Mark

I only get a slowdown at peak hours. Say 5 - 8. Any other time of day, this site is like greased lightning.

Personally, I don't have any problems and move seemlessly from thread to thread usually. However, if you click on ford390's "Supporter" icon, it states:

Access to a faster, member's only server. You won't have to deal with searches being disabled during peak hours.

As one of the features to upgrading to "supporter" status.
I should note: I have had issues where it takes a bit to get into a thread, but I generally blame it on the school's internet, as I've never had the issue when at home on my FIOS connection.

Hope this helps?
Tom

pretty seamless surfing. Maybe 5-6 seconds if the ISP is being stupid or some random hang-up.

Unless its peak cable watching times, I'm great, the ISP will freeze up when everyone is watching TV in this apartment complex, but thats the price I'll pay. Most of the time, everything runs great.

It's always worse when the working stiffs get home and start using it. Us retired types can enjoy it during the work hours.

I've had a few "It's peak hour and that page is not available right now" messages this afternoon, otherwise my time on here has been pretty speedy.

you should serchthis subject alittle further, The webmaster here has done many upgrades to the servers etc etc and considering the size of this site it is very fast. Even on my Axim51v it loads very fast, the last upgrade was 02/of 06
I believe he is running 5 servers now, here is the last announced upgrade.
The FTE servers were taken down today from 11:30am (Eastern Standard Time) for about 30 minutes. We added an additional 4 gigabytes of memory to two servers. We hope no one was inconvenienced, we tried to make it as quick as possible.

Thanks PolarBear,

mblayton try downloading this and running it, sometimes spyware will slow down the loading of pages , it happens to me and I will run adware and it will make a differance, its free and very good, i also run spybot, microsofts beta version as well. I will run adware at least 3-4 times a week, you will be surprised at the amount of tracking bugs you find.

I usually have no speed issues. Sometimes it slows up during the peak hours

I don't have this kind of time
What did you do before the internet?

Here's a tip: drop 15 bucks on a supporter account and you should see faster times

Mblayton, Had you ben around FTE for some time you would realize that the Webmaster has Invested Literally Thousands of dollars in the last 14 months to make FTE the best/fastest web site on the net.

This site grows SO FAST that upgrades are constantly beeing down.

May I suggest looking in the Site Announcements forum to view the upgrades hs has announced over the last whiule.

Then you may need to apologise to the Webmaster

FTE is NOT a small hobby site....it is a Business and does what needs to be done Technically to operate at PEAK efficiency for 100,000s of users daily.

If You want faster surfing , invest $16.00 a yr to ClubFTE and surf faster than ever.
