No, no oil came out. but i went out there this morning at about 11, it was about 27 degrees out. she cranked a few times and fired. i went poped the hood, tood out my oil fill cap and looked. i saw steam comming our no chuggging or anything like that. there was not a whole lot comming out, but enough that you could tell there was steam comming out. it did not worry me to much because it did not look like alot for being that cold and for having a cold engine. so i wasnt to worried about it.
thanks ill see if i can get a vid of how much smoke is comming out.

we use a h2o manometer to measure crankcase pressure, as well as intake air restriction. i will have to ask my teacher how much crankcase pressure is too much. we are getting my 95 powerstroke checked for crankcase pressure, i believe it is getting low on compression.
tell me if it dosent work. ohh and also guys, if you have strings in your sweat shirt and are going to be talking vids of you truck while its running.... tuck them in. i almost got pulled in!!!!
THINK DONT BE LIKE ME!

First off, the amount of blow by in not a real good way to measure the state of the rings, a Compression test is.
Second the engine needs to be hot, working temp, diesels run a much larger ring gap then a gasser, thats why they smoke so much blue smoke in the morning and when cold. the ring gap is designed to take temps of 1200º so at 25º their is going to be ALOT more gap, thus less sealing, then when hot.
calm down and dont worry. both my trucks give off enough smoke/haze to see it drift up and over the cab on calm cool days. Unless your using alot of oil, you prolly dont have a blowby problem.
sunny, 26F, engine was colder then a dead body. it had 208k on it and i have shell rotela T 15w40 in there now.
and is that really alot of blowby? and how do i test crankcase pressure?
thanks

man seriously just drive the thing. have you ever looked at where the ccv tube enters the intake? a lot comes out there also. have any of you ever cleaned your ccv????????
Ahh yes i know what your talking about now. haha, may? i already love that truck. just so long as she dont blow on me ill be happy. ill be pissed because ill be going through alot of tires the first few months i have it i need a chip and injectors!!! i cant be doing that stuff i tell myself. but man i love the smell of burning rubber!!! haha
i saw his video..that doesnt loko bad..but for cold..i dunno--i have a 97 and when mines warmed up to operating temps..it's slightly more than that...am i in good shape or do i have trouble?
Mine does not do that much, but I don't think it is a problem. If it is using much oil maybe futher tests are in order. If someone figures out how to measure crankcase pressure and what it should be, then that would settle this issue.
Mine does not use any oil at all. if you are worried about it viperrtblck id go to a mechanic and have your crankcase pressure tested. but like 69 said, if its not useing oil dont worry about it.
