Fuel gauge and miles to empty readout acting wierd

Had a 1/4 tank and filled up over the weekend.
Started the truck and the gas gauge didn't move to full.Stayed at quarter full.
Miles to empty readout stayed at 95 miles.
This morning the gauge creeped up to 3/4 of a tank(still should read full).
Miles to empty readout is 215.
Called Ford as it's an '05 and under warranty and made an appt for next weds.
They wanted me to use up most of the gas in case they have to drop the tank.

Anyone experiece this problem with their late model Explorer?

Somehow it fixed itself by the next day.
Haven't gassed up since since.
Will see what happens.

I did some internet research on the problem.
Many say take the key out of the ignition when refilling.
I've never done that and never had a problem.
In looking back I now remember the gas attendant(we can't pump our own gas in NJ.Although I occasionally do)had a hard time keeping the pump pumping. It kept shutting off for a awhile after $4-$5 was in.
He finally go it it going.
Maybe it's a coincedence but I've never had a problem with the gauge before.

Thanks,Steve.
I canceled the appt I had because the gauge seems ok as well as the miles to empty reading, but I'll keep the info if the problem arises again.
