hey all.... can anyone please tell me how to disengage the DRL on my '03 expy? sometimes they are a blessing.... other times like " high noon " i don't cre for them.... i see other expys without them on...maybe they are just newer than mine. thanks,
anthony
I guess my '03 XLT didn't come with DRL's. I have a three-way switch that has automatic-off-on. The automatics are light sensing I guess, but I never use them.
Was the DRL standard in later builds?
Does that fuse affect other circuits? I remember looking at the fuse block for my '99 and I thought the fuse for the DRL also ran something else.
Not for the '97. When the DRL module failed on my truck the headlights remained on, even with the truck off. Pulling the DRL fuse was the only way to bypass the DRL, turn off the headlights, and save the battery.
The headlights still work manually. I've never bothered to replace the DRL module and have never had any problems with other circuits.
Things could be different for other model years...
I think only certain years had the DRLs. My '99 Expy has 'em, but my roommates '01 (or is it 02?) f150 doesn't.
I think it might depend on the vehicle regulations where you live.
Didn't think of it before, but I'm from Canada were DRLs are mandatory equipment - on every vehicle. That might explain the "I have 'em" "I don't have em" situation...
oh yeah.... I just had mine expy worked on at the dealer last week and he said "did you know this is a Canadian unit?" I wasn't aware of that until then, so maybe that is the difference.
thanks fellas.... i think i'm stuck with them 'cause my expy is a canadian model... ohh by the way, would that explain why mine didn't come with the EXPEDITION badging on it.... not really complaining because it looks good without them and no problem to wax... thanks again
