I am talking about the hub conversion. Do the hubs go oout that often? I put over 45000 miles on mine and only the passenger side is giving me problems.
Well what i was talking about is not converting the bearings but rather just converting the factory auto hubs to warn manual hubs which for the premiums will cost you about $180 and that includes both sides so replace one hub for $270 and wait for the other one to go out or replace both for $180 and not worry about it again. The warn hubs are a bolt on they don't take any converting actually.
I am sure the $1600 conversion you are talkng about is the one that changes the entire knuckles and does away with the sealed unit bearings and go to the older style servicable bearings that can be repacked and actually that is probably worth it to even at that price although I am still researching to figure out if it's possible somehow to do it cheaper than that although so far I haven't figured out a way.
I was told you have to get the conversion to put on the warn hubs?
When I put on my Warn premiums after my auto hubs failed, I saw nothing for a conversion. It took me about 3-5 minutes apiece to change out. The local dealership recommended the warns to a friend of mine when his went out. I am glad I did. I really like the Warns.
how much would it hurt my fuel economy to have the hubs locked, in 2wd. the road conditions change a lot when it snows here in MA some roads can be covered in snow while the pike will cleared to were I wouldn't need 4wd.
nodakford, do you have a part number? I think the shop is trying to screw me. I got on Warn's web site and found hubs part #38826 listed for the 01 Super Duty.
