I have a 390, '71 f-250 and I just got a new holley 2 bbl carb (500 cfm). The problem is with acceration... when I mash it hard it kinda stutters and chokes, then finally goes (but not very quickly). I think it may be my accelerator pump but I was looking for a second opinion. I have no vacuum leaks in the hoses and the vaccuum advance in set correctly. Thanks.
Do you allways have a bog on accel? If not you may be able to work it out with a different accel pump cam and/or larger shooters. If you do have problems even under gentle accel (and you are positive you got any vacumn leaks) then think about the 50 cc accel pump. Had the same problem with the 350 2 barrel and the 50 cc pump cured it.
I think the guys have it right about the accel pump...course part of the problem is that with that particular Holley your engine is woefully undercarburated. Just my opinion.

I had a 2bbl on my 390 and it was fine after i did that. run the nut on the screw up a little then take her out for a spin if not enough turn it out a bit more. this will most likely cure the bog. let us know!
