It would load up and foul the plugs when I first started it. Only when it was cold outside, Thats right when the thermometer droped below 40 It wouldn't idle. For the next 2 years this is what I did to try and fix it.
New ignition controle module
New plugs, wires, cap, rotor
New distributer
New 600 Holley carb
Finally remanufactured 390 engine, but put the 352 intake on, and it still won't idle when its cold out.It has to be the intake!
Now I think the exhaust valves are sticking open in #'2 and 5cylinder I posted a thread on the trouble shooting forum about that.I'm new here and I don't know if I'm posting right.I would certainly appreciate any help.Thank you, Craig
I don't think the intake has a problem, make sure your idle mixture screws are adjusted properly as well.
use a compression tester to determine if you have valve troubles, vacuum gauge with a guide to interpreting it's readings will help you determine if valves are stuck.
have you inspected it all to make sure A) it's all still there (heheheh)
B) It's operational
Also, what about all your heat stove / choke pull off gear?
Will the engine idle badly when it's at operating temperature, or just when it's still cold?
