Tow Capacity

How would I increase my tow capacity I have a 2001 f-150 5.4l 2wd I think my current max is around 7000 is there any way to get that around 9k. I have been looking at getting a new travel trailer that is 8200 dry. I want to put off getting a new truck until the end of the year.

I would get a lighter trailer. If you do a search here you will find most don't pull much over 6000 loaded. Check this sight out if you want to find out info about RV towing.

If you want that trailer, then you need a 3/4 ton. You truck will pull it, probably not very well, but if you have an accident while towing you will be paying for everything out of your own pocket. Your insurance will NOT cover you. Not to mention if the dot decided to run you accross a scale then you would be getting ticket for overweight.
