I went to a local shop today to get an estimate and I saw all the service techs wearing what looked like white cotton gloves. That was the first time I'd ever seen such a thing. Has anyone else ever seen a mechanic wearing white cotton gloves?
Are you sure that they weren't latex gloves? alot of mechanics that I know wear latex. It keeps the hands and nailbeds cleaner at the end of the day when you go to see the girlfriend.
Some techs like myself wear gloves to attempt to keep away from the amazing amount of toxic materials that we have to work with, but we still breathe whatever is in the air, so one IDIOT with a can of "brakeclean" can help to poison all of us cleaning parts that do not need to be cleaned.
When doing "rough" work I will wear lightweight leather work gloves
